copenhagen climate summit

Precious time to save our mother Earth is almost lost again. Copenhagen Climate summit is nearing the end and the results we are getting is not comforting either. World leaders are assembling and protest marches are becoming a sight. Already we have seen Indian Environment Minister Jayaram Ramesh is defending his position saying world cannot accuse India for the failure of Copenhagen Summit.

The bulk of the talks are going on between Developed and Developing countries. The developing countries have made their positions pretty clear. They have come here with an aim. They are here to go back with a huge Financial packages for themselves. The reason is " Developed countries polluted the world first and they must pay the compensation for us to reduce the pollution. Developed countries play the
game of wait and watch. They want to pollute more and they need a licence from Copenhagen to pollute the world again.

This time the Developing economies chose to play it safe. They dont want to be called the spoilers. What they have done before coming to Copenhagen is to announce serious pollution controls. India and China have announced path breaking pollution cuts. They have reached the summit with clear objectives. They want the developed countries to compensate for what they have done.

Recently two important activities that ignited the passion in people to become responsible. Maldives a country that is in the danger of vanishing because of the Global warming conducted its first underwater cabinet Meeting. President and Ministers went in swim dresses to have an underwater session. Another country which also could disappear from the Earth is Nepal and it conducted a Cabinet meeting in Himalayas. These incidents must make our politicians more responsible. We are having a problem in Hand. We cannot negotiate and drag this for ever. Developed countries have enough money in their pocket to bombard innocent nations. Developing countries have huge fund to increase their arsenal to defend them against an invisible enemy. Now is the Time to act. Do or Die. Will our politicians listen????
